How do I run the tool?
Place the sub at the foot of the drill pipe and drill as normal, on reaching TD pump down the drift and look for the pressure increase.

How will I know the drift is good?

A small flow restriction will occur when the drift seats in the catcher this will be seen at surface on the gauges confirming a good drift. The Drift Catcher is supplied with a pressure table you will also find the data on our pdf leaflet.

What do I do when pulling out of hole?
Confident that the drift is in the sub, you don't need to spend time searching, simply pool out of hole and then remove the drift from the tool ready for re-use.

How will I know the drift is not good?
In the unlikely event no pressure spike is observed then you know the flow is bypassing the drift on obstruction

What should I do for obstructions?
When an obstruction is detected you will probably chose to drift manually, in which case perform a risk assessment before you start. Once the obstruction has been located and removed you can remove the drift and pump it down the rest of the drill pipe.

Can I drift in open hole?
Yes you can, but request a larger choke in your drift (at least 1") and pump the drift down at a higher flow rate to ensure landing observation pressure is significant. Avoid using the volumetric drift in open hole as it is not designed to withstand prolonged high flow rates?

Can I fish through the tool?
Yes the fishing ID of the sub is normally only 0.08" less than the required drift, but the exact ID will be specified on your order. This also allows great access for other devices such as activating balls to pass through the sub, for example the 4.5" IF NC50 sub for a 2.5" drift offers 2.42" of fishing ID (see table above).

Can I fish the drift if I need to?
Yes the standard drift has a 2.5" GS internal fish-neck, and the volumetric wiper has an external fish-neck for easy retrieval if necessary.
